Quality of Life
Cheyenne was among the 41 communities on the five-star "quality
of life" list, selected from nearly 330 communities.
Ask almost any Cheyenne resident what they like best about their
community and their response likely will be "quality of life."
While definitions of quality may vary, most would agree one of
Cheyenne's greatest assets and attributes is its "livability"
as a community.
Clean air, little traffic congestion, relatively low crime, affordable
housing, low taxes and cost of living, good schools, recreational
and cultural activities, good health care and yes, even an attractive
climate-those are just of few of the pluses that make Cheyenne a
good community in which to live.
While few would claim the community is perfect, one has only to
glance at the headlines of problems found elsewhere to see that
living in Cheyenne indeed is the good life.

Recreation and Culture
Recreation in Cheyenne is mainly a participatory sport.
Not that spectator sports are lacking-Cheyenne's schools offer
plenty of action, and the University of Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls
as well as top professional teams like the Rockies, Broncos, Avalanche
and Nuggets are just a short drive away.
More than 600 acres of parks, plus 15 miles of the Cheyenne Greenway,
offer plenty of places to play or relax. Cheyenne has 14 baseball
fields, nine softball fields, 12 tennis courts, five golf courses
and two municipal swimming pools. Just beyond the community's boundaries
lie Curt Gowdy State Park (25 miles), the Vedauwoo and Happy Jack
recreational areas (30 miles) and the Snowy Range (70 miles), while
international attractions like Yellowstone and Grand Teton national
parks and Devils Tower National Monument are a day's drive or less.
By mixing the traditional with the avant-garde, the community offers
something for every taste and every pocketbook-from street fairs
and formal programs to community activities and a wealth of private
galleries, shops and businesses that enhance the cultural experience.
The Cheyenne Civic Center provides the stage for performing artists
from near and far, including popular singers, dance troupes and
Broadway touring productions. It is home to the Cheyenne Symphony
Orchestra, an 80-member professional symphony that is regarded as
one of the best in the nation for a community this size. Other groups,
such as the Cheyenne Little Theatre Players and a host of talented
high school artists, help provide the community with a cultural
smorgasbord that continues through the year.

Churches
Cheyenne is home to people of all faiths.
More than 100 churches and synagogues representing all faiths are
dotted throughout the community and offer their members a wide array
of social, educational and community services as well as a chance
to worship.
As you might expect in the Equality State, no one religion dominates
or predominates, and people of many faiths will find a high degree
of acceptance and tolerance in Cheyenne.
